Job Summary
Part-Time Security Guard responsible for patrolling City-owned properties, monitoring security systems, investigating breaches, recording daily activities, and assisting in emergencies. Duties include activating fire safety systems, coordinating with authorities, managing visitor access, enforcing By-Laws (including Trespass to Property Act), reporting incidents, and maintaining security logs. Requires a two-year college diploma in Law and Security (or equivalent) with possession of a valid Security Guard Licence under Ontario law, plus 6 months to 1 year of relevant experience and knowledge of By-laws, CCTV/alarms, investigation procedures, and incident reporting. Strong interpersonal and customer-service skills, conflict resolution, and the ability to operate access control systems and security software; valid Ontario driver’s licence is preferred.
Required Qualifications
- Two-year College Diploma in Law and Security
- Possession of and the ability to maintain a valid Security Guard Licence in Ontario
- Six months to one year experience in security
- Knowledge of City By-laws and relevant legislation
- Knowledge of proper investigation procedures to ensure incidents are properly handled and documented
- Interpersonal and customer service skills including conflict resolution
- Experience operating security software including access control, CCTV, intrusion alarms and duress systems
- Ability to prepare clear security incident reports and notebook entries
- Good organizational and time management skills
- Valid Ontario Class G driver’s licence in good standing
