Job Summary
Conduct daily patrols and rounds to prevent fire, theft, vandalism, and illegal entry while ensuring the safety of employees, patients, and visitors. Control facility access by identifying individuals entering sensitive areas, managing traffic flow, and activating/deactivating alarm systems. Investigate thefts, disturbances, and suspicious activity, and assist staff in managing disruptions, including 5150 holds. Maintain clear communication with patients, families, and coworkers using AIDET principles, and report environmental or equipment issues for repair. Complete monthly training and adhere to HIPAA regulations and hospital safety protocols.
Required Qualifications
- Valid driver's license
- Six (6) months to one (1) year of current experience in an acute hospital setting as a security guard
- Working knowledge of the requirements of the Life Safety program
- Working knowledge of the Utilities Management program
- Working knowledge of the Hazardous Materials program
- Working knowledge of the Emergency Preparedness program
- Working knowledge of the Safety Management program
- Working knowledge of the Medical Equipment Management program
- Working knowledge of the Security Management program
- Ability to read/comprehend written instructions
- Strong organizational skills
