Security Guard - Everwind Terminal

Job Summary
Conduct on-foot perimeter and search patrols inside and outdoors, while performing mobile vehicle surveillance and monitoring alarm systems. Liaise with site employees, Transport Canada, and federal enforcement agencies to ensure workplace safety and adherence to health, safety, and environmental policies. Operate CCTV equipment, manage UHF/VHF/TMR radios, and complete electronic reporting for security drills. Maintain alertness during rotating 12-hour shifts with on-call availability in all weather conditions. This role supports the Everwind Terminal's security operations within the Canadian Corps of Commissionaires.
Required Qualifications
- Be aged 19 or older
- Be a Permanent Resident of Canada or Canadian Citizen
- Not have a criminal record for which a pardon has not been granted
- Be able to provide fingerprints and complete a criminal record check
- Be eligible to apply for Government of Canada personnel security screening
- Be able to complete the PWSR (Personnel With Security Responsibilities) course
- Be able to complete the Vehicle Search course
- Be able to communicate effectively in English
- Be a professional and detail driven individual with a strong work ethic and 'Can Do' attitude
- Both physical and mental fitness
- Mental alertness with an ability to react calmly, quickly, and appropriately in any crisis
- Mental alertness with an ability to concentrate and remain alert for up to 12 hours
- Mental alertness with an ability to communicate observed characteristics/behaviours (good memory)
- Mental alertness with an ability to demonstrate problem-solving and sound judgement
- Physical fitness with an ability to climb multiple flights of stairs with ease
- Physical fitness with an ability to navigate uneven terrain during foot patrols (in all weather conditions)
- Physical fitness with an ability to display good dexterity and balance
- Physical fitness with an ability to rely on all senses in assessing changes to the work environment
- Superior attention to detail
- Very good verbal communication skills
- Moderate computer abilities
- Ability and aptitude in operating CCTV equipment
- Ability to monitor and control UHF, VHF, and TMR radios and intercom systems
- Achievement of First Aid certification
- Completion of WHMIS certification
- Successful completion of the Commissionaires Security Officer Course (online and/or in-class)
