Job Summary
Patrols hospital buildings and property to maintain a safe and secure environment for patients, staff and visitors. Enforces hospital rules and regulations related to Security, Fire Safety and traffic. Detects unlawful acts and assists medical staff as requested. Produces accurate duty records and incident reports for investigation. Requires ability to read and understand English, operate a two-way radio, and interact professionally with diverse individuals. Must be physically capable to stand/walk for long periods, assist with patient off-loads, and potentially detain individuals. Holds a valid Class 5 driver’s license and Manitoba Security Guard License, and undergoes required background checks. Evening/night and weekend shifts with in-person work at St. Boniface Hospital in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
Required Qualifications
- Complete high school education (Manitoba standards)
- Diploma in a related field or equivalent experience in law enforcement/military background
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license
- Valid Manitoba Security Guard License or future provincial license to perform duties
- Ability to read, write, speak and understand English
- Demonstrated ability to use a two-way radio
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Must be physically able to stand/walk long periods and restrain/detain individuals
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively; good interpersonal skills
- Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check, and Adult Abuse Registry Check required
