Job Summary
Monitor and control access to the facility, verify identification, and issue temporary passes. Conduct regular patrols to detect and deter suspicious activity. Respond promptly to security incidents, alarms, and emergencies by coordinating with law enforcement or emergency services as required. Prepare detailed incident reports, daily logs, and other security documentation while maintaining clear communication with supervisors. Provide assistance and guidance to visitors and employees, ensuring a positive experience while maintaining security standards. This role requires a BC Security Licence, the Commissionaire Security Officers Course, and Reliability Clearance with Public Works Government Service Canada. Shifts include various days, evenings, and overnight rotations in Comox.
Required Qualifications
- Obtain a BC Security Licence
- Must the Commissionaire Security Officers Course
- Must be able to obtain a Reliability Clearance with Public Works Government Service Canada
- Must be at least 19 years of age
- Strong observational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to remain calm and composed in high-pressure situations
- Physical fitness and ability to perform duties requiring standing, walking, and patrolling for extended periods
- Shift work, including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Must be able to work in various weather conditions if patrols involve outdoor areas
- The position requires standing or walking for extended periods
