Job Summary
Security Engineer at PointsBet will actively participate in identifying, investigating, and remediating security incidents; collaborate with the Senior Security Incident Manager and Senior Security Engineer to mitigate issues across IT Operations, Cloud Platform Engineering, and Site Reliability Engineering; manage and enhance intrusion testing and vulnerability management processes; recommend security control improvements aligned with risk; and engage with stakeholders locally and globally. The role requires coordinating with software engineers and cloud teams to remediate IaC misconfigurations, API security weaknesses, and cloud-native design flaws; coordinating containment actions during incidents; optimizing security processes and tooling; communicating technical issues to non-technical stakeholders; reviewing and implementing security controls for platforms; updating patch management policies to address critical vulnerabilities; developing remediation plans to reduce attack surface; and contributing to the identification of emerging threats and preventative measures.
Required Qualifications
- Four plus (4+) years of experience in the security domain and incident response
- Experience working on cloud platforms, with a strong preference for Microsoft Azure
- Significant experience in identifying and responding to threats, vulnerability management, and security monitoring
- Expertise using Microsoft Defender and third-party SIEM tools
- Strong project management and cross-functional coordination skills
- Ability to detect, respond to, and mitigate security incidents
- Knowledge of security processes, including access management and patch management
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience with security tooling (firewalls, IDS/IPS, email security, data protection)
- Ability to communicate technical issues to non-technical stakeholders
