Job Summary

Security Engineer, Platform at Resend responsible for building and improving the security foundations of the platform (API keys, service permissions, secrets management, tenant isolation, audit logs, internal access controls), designing secure defaults for services and deployment pipelines, improving detection and response for suspicious activity and privilege changes, and embedding security into processes to be built-in rather than bolt-on. The role requires securing production infrastructure and cloud environments, writing and reading code, understanding authentication/authorization, IAM, logging, and incident response, and it is the first dedicated security hire with autonomy to ship. Optional experience includes email infrastructure, cloud tooling (AWS, Terraform, Kubernetes, Cloudflare), open source security, and participating in security/compliance programs (SOC 2, ISO 27001, GDPR). 100% remote, flexible schedules, with a compensation of $120,000-$140,000 USD depending on experience.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience securing production infrastructure, cloud environments, APIs, developer platforms, or multi-tenant SaaS products
  • Can write code and read application, infrastructure, and deployment code
  • Understand authentication, authorization, secrets, IAM, logging, audit trails, incident response, and secure deployment pipelines
  • Independent prioritization and day-to-day drive as first dedicated security hire
  • Willingness to learn from others
  • Care about developer experience and security usability
  • Experience with email infrastructure, transactional email, sender reputation, domain verification, SPF, DKIM, DMARC, webhooks, or abuse prevention
  • Experience with AWS, Terraform, Kubernetes, Cloudflare, or similar tools
  • Open source security, GitHub organization hardening, package publishing, dependency review, or supply-chain security
  • Experience preparing for SOC 2, ISO 27001, GDPR, or enterprise security reviews without turning engineering into a compliance machine
  • Security observability, alerting, detection pipelines, or incident response workflows
  • Work with Trust & Safety, anti-abuse, fraud, or platform integrity teams
  • Security systems design for high-scale developer products
