Job Summary
Security Engineer, Operations role at a fast-paced space-tech startup. You will monitor security alerts, investigate incidents, perform threat hunting, maintain security tooling (endpoint protection, IDS, vulnerability scanners, cloud monitoring), assist with IAM operations, conduct vulnerability remediation tracking, collaborate with IT/Networking/Engineering, and contribute to security documentation and awareness initiatives. Requires 5+ years in security operations/engineering and 2+ years of development experience (or a relevant bachelor’s degree). Proficiency with Python, C++, Rust, or Go is expected, along with knowledge of SIEM, firewall/VPN management, IAM, and general security best practices. Eligible for ITAR/export-control considerations; U.S. Person status or equivalent license may be required.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in security operations or engineering roles
- 2+ years of development experience with any modern programming language (including Python, C++, Rust, Go) in lieu of a degree; OR a bachelor’s degree in security engineering, cyber security, computer science, engineering, math, or other STEM discipline
- Knowledge of operating systems, current equipment and technologies, networking, security best practices, and system performance monitoring tools
- Comfortable working with mission critical and sensitive systems, with a sense of urgency appropriate with responsibilities
- Excellent interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills
