Job Summary

Develop and deliver standardized Workplace Violence Prevention training curricula across KHI facilities, covering de-escalation techniques, response protocols, and post-incident actions for security officers, nursing, and clinical staff. Lead the enterprise WPV program including orientation, annual education, and risk-based mock drills for combative patients and behavioral health events. Coordinate security training rounds in clinical and non-clinical areas to reinforce situational awareness while using incident data to prioritize focus areas and drive continuous program improvement. Ensure all training aligns with Arizona WPV statute, DNV NIAHO standards, and CMS requirements, maintaining competency validation tools for audit readiness. Serve as the subject matter expert in WPV and security training, providing regular reporting and dashboards to leadership.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Current and valid U.S. motor vehicle license
  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • Eligible to drive per KHI policy
  • Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS) Unarmed Security Guard License
  • Knowledge of security operations and workplace violence risks in healthcare environments
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to develop and deliver training materials and competency assessments
  • Ability to use computer systems and applications for documentation and tracking purposes
  • Must be able to stand and walk for 60% to 70% of the time
  • Must be able to sit 30% to 40% of the time
  • Must be able to run
  • Must be able to distinguish phone rings and callers' voices against regular background noise and conversation
  • Occasionally bends, stoops, kneels, climbs, and descends ramps, stairs, ladders and reaches in the daily functions of duties
  • Must be able to lift 40 to 50 pounds

Desired Qualifications

  • College level degree
  • Prior experience as a trainer or educator in healthcare security or public safety
  • Instructor certification in de-escalation, defensive tactics, or workplace violence prevention
  • Healthcare or hospital environment experience
  • Arizona security officer license
  • International Association of Healthcare Security Certification and/or Safety as a Certified Healthcare Security Officer (CHSO)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or ability to obtain per KRMC policy
  • Completion of FEMA IS 100, 200, 700 and 800
