Job Summary
Develop and implement security policies, procedures, and protocols to safeguard the nursing home facility against potential threats and unauthorized access. Conduct regular security assessments, risk evaluations, and drills to identify vulnerabilities and ensure staff readiness for medical emergencies, fires, and security incidents. Supervise security personnel, including officers and guards, while utilizing surveillance technologies to monitor premises for suspicious activities. Respond promptly to alarms and emergency calls, coordinating intervention measures and investigating incidents to prepare incident reports in accordance with regulatory requirements. Collaborate with management, department heads, and external stakeholders to address security concerns and promote a culture of safety throughout the facility.
Required Qualifications
- Management and supervisory experience as a sworn law enforcement officer in a secure facility including management experience at the level of Security Director
- Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action
- Must be knowledgeable of regulations governing activity services in nursing care facilities
- Must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age-related needs of the residents served
- Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel and the general public
- Must possess leadership ability and willingness to work harmoniously with and supervise other personnel
- Must have patience, tact, cheerful disposition and enthusiasm as well as be willing to handle residents based on whatever maturity level at which they are currently functioning
- Must possess the ability to seek out new methods and principles and be willing to incorporate them into existing activity services
- Must be a member in good standing in the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) and Academy of Certified Social Workers (ACSW)
- Must be able to relate information concerning a resident's condition
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in security management or law enforcement, preferably in a healthcare or nursing home setting
- Management and supervisory experience as a sworn law enforcement officer in a secure facility is preferred, including management experience at the level of security director or higher
- Proven leadership and supervisory skills, with the ability to effectively manage and motivate security personnel
- Strong knowledge of security principles, techniques, and best practices, including access control, surveillance, and emergency response
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills
- Proficiency in utilizing security systems, surveillance equipment, and computer applications
- Ability to remain calm, composed, and decisive in high-pressure situations and emergency scenarios
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as needed
- On call 24 hours a day, 7 days per week
Desired Qualifications
- Certification in CPR, First Aid, and other relevant emergency response training is desirable
