Job Summary
Review security threats and risks in detail, compile accurate reports on trends, and produce in-depth analyses using corporate tools to support senior decision-making. Liaise with local administration, law enforcement, and UN/NGO staff to facilitate safe programme delivery and mitigate potential risks. Plan and coordinate staff activities during field missions, perform security assessments within the area of responsibility, and present detailed risk mitigation recommendations to the Country Director. Support the implementation of Minimum Operational Security Standards (MOSS), maintain access control procedures, and deliver security training to staff while supervising on-the-job training for other team members. Monitor emergency and contingency planning documentation to enhance crisis preparedness and ensure all security equipment is maintained and operational.
Required Qualifications
- Completion of secondary school education
- A post-secondary certificate in the related functional area
- At least six (6) years of progressively responsible work experience in the Security Field such as military/police officer, Security Analyst, or any relevant security experience
- Prior experience in emergency context
- Fluency in both oral and written communication in English and Arabic
- Good theoretical understanding of security management concepts and principles including knowledge of best practices, techniques and processes in the security field
- Good knowledge of the political and social environment in the country
- Specialized knowledge of the application of practical methods, techniques, procedures and systems used in security, typically gained through technical training and work experience
- Experience in security operations, including security administration, risk assessment, contingency planning, and coordination with local authorities and law enforcement agencies
- Training and practical experience in fire safety, emergency response, and evacuation procedures, including participation in drills and incident response activities
- Ability to work accurately under pressure and time constraints and to manage emergency situations while remaining calm
- Attention to detail and constant vigilance in order to promptly detect any breach in security measures
- Ability to interpret information, use judgement and inform supervisors of any incidents which might impact the UNWFP staff and operations
- Excellent communication skills in order to maintain frequent correspondence with both, internal staff and external authorities with regards to security advisories and security incidents
- Willingness to attend security trainings and comply with UNSMS standards
- Knowledge of alternative routes in rural areas
