Job Summary
Operate and monitor computerized Intrusion Detection Systems, Closed-Circuit Television, and Automated Access Control Systems to assess alarms and coordinate emergency responses via the Radio Dispatch Center. Verify clearance status using access lists, maintain detailed logs of surveillance checks and communications, and respond professionally to non-emergency and emergency calls. Utilize radio consoles, portable radios, and secure telephones to manage communications while providing guidance to individuals denied access. Prepare supply requisitions for inventory maintenance and refer complex issues to the AMP Site Supervisor. Maintain consistent work attendance including nights, weekends, and holidays to support 24/7 operations at the Norfolk Naval Shipyard security mission.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Secret clearance
- Availability to work rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays
- Demonstrated proficiency with computer systems, including the ability to quickly learn and operate multiple software systems, databases, and electronic monitoring tools
- Ability to assess active situations and make sound, timely decisions under pressure
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Skilled in operating alarm monitoring systems, radio equipment, and office technology
- High level of attentiveness to environmental and operational changes
- Adequate problem identification and resolution skills
- Ability to accept feedback and adjust performance accordingly
- Capable of maintaining accurate logs, organizing records, and managing inventory
- Ability to manage emotional responses in high-stress or emergency scenarios
- Maintains punctuality, follows schedules, and demonstrates reliability in all duties
- Tactful interaction with personnel and adherence to SOPs and security protocols
Desired Qualifications
- 2+ years' experience in alarm monitoring, physical security, military operations center, emergency communications, or a similar environment
