Job Summary
Development Risk Manager (Associate) in the Securitized Products Group, based in Chicago, will evaluate and manage risks for LIHTC affordable housing development from feasibility through construction and stabilization. Responsibilities include feasibility analysis, site visits with Origination Officers, evaluating development-team qualifications, market conditions analysis, reviewing site control/entitlements/permits/soil/environmental factors, coordinating with third-party consultants on design, budget, schedule, and quality control, presenting opportunities to the Investment Committee, overseeing construction and lease-up disbursements, maintaining project databases, and fostering relationships with syndicator partners and industry colleagues. Required capabilities include a professional degree in Architecture/Engineering/Construction Management, 7+ years in related fields, understanding of real estate development processes, familiarity with real estate finance, strong analytical and communication skills, advanced PC/database proficiency, and the ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities. The role is based in Chicago with in-person work expectations.
Required Qualifications
- Professional degree in Architecture, Engineering, or Construction Management
- 7+ years of experience in Architecture, Engineering, Construction, or Real Estate development; experience with multi-family and LIHTC properties preferred
- Thorough understanding of real estate development processes, with strengths in architectural, engineering, and construction practices
- Familiarity with principles of real estate finance
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Superior written, presentation, and quantitative communication skills
- Advanced PC skills, including experience with spreadsheets and databases
- Ability to work independently and interact with different levels of management
- Ability to prioritize workload and manage competing demands
