Job Summary
Lead planning, budgeting, scheduling, and execution of heavy civil projects (dam construction and material movement) at Northshore Mining; coordinate with Operations, Maintenance, Environmental, and Engineering leadership; drive safe production, ensure quality and environmental compliance, and guide project plans from initiation to close. Translate engineering standards into actionable tasks for Operations crews; manage contractors and data transfers, survey equipment, GPS coordinates, and field documentation; facilitate weekly engineering/operations meetings; foster safety, training, and career development for crews; communicate project updates to Plant, Mine, Railroad, and Engineering teams; support continuous improvement and timely reporting of safety and environmental metrics.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in mining or heavy industry OR applicable two-year or four-year degree, preference given to those with both operations and maintenance experience
- Previous project or construction management experience is required
- Previous successful leadership experience is required
- Excellent organizational skills
- Self-motivated and the ability to work independently for long periods of time
- Capable of working effectively and safely using a participative style in a team environment
- Must be a champion of safe production methods and ideals
- Promote continuous improvement
- Understand and be able to communicate and implement company safety rules, MSHA standards, environmental policies and procedures, and quality standards
- Must have strong computer skills and be proficient in Microsoft Office Software
- Civil, Construction, or related Engineering degree is preferred
