Job Summary
Conduct daily laboratory operations by reviewing results for accuracy, troubleshooting test system deviations, and ensuring patient specimens are processed and reported only after corrective actions are completed. Manage technical manuals, procedures, and maintenance logs to maintain regulatory compliance, while supervising staff medical technologists and technicians. Orient new personnel, evaluate staff competency, and resolve technical or administrative problems in the absence of the Administrative Director. Communicate with physicians, nurses, and external reference laboratories to exchange test results and clarify information. Perform generalist duties including obtaining blood samples, instructing patients on specimen collection, and organizing work priorities to facilitate efficient reporting.
Required Qualifications
- Satisfactory completion of a course of instruction given by a school of Medical Technology approved by the Council on Medical Education and Hospitals of the American Medical Associate or who is otherwise recognized as a Medical Technologist by the strictest of any external agency whose standards may be binding upon this hospital
- 4 years of experience in High and Moderate Complexity Testing
- Certification by the America Society of Clinical Pathology, or the equivalent
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelors of Science Degree preferred
- Associates of Science Degree with experience accepted
