Job Summary
The Department Secretary provides clerical/administrative support for the department, including reception, transcription, file maintenance, scheduling for leadership and visitors/patients, and preparation of reports. Responsibilities include greeting visitors, handling phone inquiries, routing complaints, coordinating interdepartmental communications, scheduling lab work and procedures, updating stakeholders on changes, managing workflows to meet deadlines, processing mail and faxes, inventory and supply management, maintaining office equipment, compiling routine reports, assisting with interview and hiring document preparation, processing insurance-related requests, and patient registration/medical record responsibilities in clinical areas. The role may involve floating to other units and performing duties across units as needed; HIPAA compliance and confidentiality are emphasized. An associate degree is preferred; clerical experience is recommended, and some roles may involve patient-related tasks in clinical settings.
