Job Summary

Make and receive phone calls, take messages, and route calls while maintaining accurate school and staff attendance records. Type, prepare, distribute, and file school records, reports, and correspondence; distribute mail, greet visitors, and assist substitute teachers. Check students in and out of school, file reports with state and federal agencies, and assist the school nurse with medication distribution. Maintain proper filing systems for accountability, enforce Board policies, and ensure student safety while upholding privacy rights. Work in a typical office environment with light physical demands, including occasional lifting up to 25 pounds.

  • Ability to distribute mail for the building
  • Ability to greet office visitors
  • Ability to assist and orient substitute teachers
  • Ability to keep student attendance records
  • Ability to keep staff attendance records
  • Ability to check students in and out of school
  • Ability to assist the school nurse with distribution of medications when necessary
  • Ability to file reports with state and federal agencies as required
  • Ability to conduct all official business in a professional and timely manner
  • Ability to utilize district technology resources
  • Ability to arrive to work and leave work at the time specified by supervisors
  • Ability to attend all required meetings pertinent to the position
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and filing systems
  • Ability to solve practical problems utilizing math functions as needed
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as work orders, safety rules, and handbooks
  • Ability to properly supervise students at all times, if applicable to essential job functions
  • Ability to obey all safety rules, including rules protecting the safety and welfare of students
  • Ability to care for, properly use, and protect school property
  • Ability to maintain courteous and professional relationships with students, parents/guardians, other district employees and the public
  • Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors, department staff, all members of the school district, and community
  • Ability to provide excellence in customer service both internally and externally
  • Ability to comply with privacy rights and safeguard confidential and/or sensitive information pertaining to staff and students
