Job Summary
School Secretary role involves routine clerical support to a supervisor, typing letters, filing, answering calls, scheduling, mail processing, data entry, and confidential handling of documents. Acts as liaison among Principal, teachers, staff, PTA, and district programs; maintains calendars, records, and data; provides back-up to clerical staff; may support school nurse with first-aid and medication dispensing. Parent Involvement Aide focuses on promoting parent involvement, facilitating home-school communication, coordinating volunteers and events, preparing communications, newsletters, and maintaining calendars and parent resources. Both require strong office software skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), data handling, and ability to work with students and families in a school setting. Updated 2025.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of high school diploma and three years of experience using computer applications in an office environment, or a post-secondary degree in computer applications with some related work experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Associates Degree preferred, 60 hours college credit from an accredited college, or passing score on the ParaPro Exam. A good knowledge of and understanding of child growth and development; or any equivalent combination of training and experience.
