Job Summary
Promote the mental, physical, emotional, and social growth of assigned students using available instructional materials and developmental practices. Develop and implement proper classroom management techniques while planning and preparing weekly lesson plans. Maintain accurate records including class lists, attendance, health records, and report cards, and keep the classroom attractive and safe. Collect monies as necessary and supply substitutes with adequate plans and materials. Cooperate with school-based and central office personnel, encourage parents to be informed of student progress, and participate in faculty meetings and inservice training. Conform to Louisiana laws concerning student education, health, safety, and welfare.
Required Qualifications
- College Degree
- Valid Louisiana Teaching Certificate
- Certification in area of assignment
- Able to effectively communicate English both orally and in writing
- Ability to accurately give and receive information via tele-communication system
- Ability to communicate successfully and pleasantly with students, parents, and school personnel
- Must be able to plan and implement appropriate education programs for all students
- Must be able to understand and interpret written and verbal instructions
- Must be able to comply with state and parish regulations
- Must be able to utilize effective classroom management techniques
- Must be able to work cooperatively with students, parents, and school personnel
- Must be able to respond positively to supervision and accept suggestions for improvement
- Must be able to physically transfer, restrain or position special education students as required
- Must be able to lift 10 pounds
