Job Summary
Develop and deliver high school social studies instruction aligned with district and state curriculum; create long-range and daily instructional plans; implement a variety of teaching strategies (group work, lectures, mini-lessons, demonstrations, audiovisuals) to support student learning; use formative assessments and differentiated instruction to monitor and promote academic and social growth; maintain attendance, evaluations, and disciplinary records; be available to students and parents outside instructional hours; provide constructive feedback to students; supervise activities and sponsor student organizations; collaborate with staff to address social, emotional, and academic issues; participate in professional development and district committees; demonstrate competency in planning, classroom management, and technology-assisted teaching; meet credentialing and licensure requirements for the Sioux City Community School District and uphold equal opportunity policies.
Required Qualifications
- valid Iowa teaching certificate
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university with a major in education
- state certification and licensure for the position
