Secondary Teacher, English Language Learner (6-12)

Job Summary
Deliver direct English language development instruction to English Learners in grades 6-12 through live virtual sessions and small-group learning. Differentiate instruction based on proficiency levels and administer required language proficiency assessments per Iowa and federal standards. Develop and maintain Individual Learning Plans, monitor student progress using assessment data, and adjust instruction to support growth. Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and families to implement accommodations and ensure compliance documentation is accurate. Support on-site testing events periodically throughout the year. Requires a valid Iowa teaching license with ESL endorsement, two years of EL experience, and strong proficiency in Google Workspace.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of two (2) years of successful experience providing English Learner (EL) or English as a Second Language (ESL) services
- Strong knowledge of second language acquisition, evidence-based instructional practices, and language development
- Thorough understanding of federal and Iowa requirements related to English Learner identification, service delivery, assessment, and compliance
- Experience administering English language proficiency assessments
- Proven experience working independently with minimal supervision, including the ability to manage a digital task list and maintain a stable remote (home-office) infrastructure
- Minimum of 1–2 years of experience using the Google Workspace suite (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Drive) in a professional or academic setting
- Demonstrated ability to communicate complex ideas via written channels (Email, Google Chat, and Document Comments) with high clarity and low ambiguity
- Access to a private, secure, high-speed internet connection with a minimum of 25 Mbps download and 10 Mbps upload speeds
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
- Valid Iowa teaching license with an English as a Second Language (ESL) endorsement
Desired Qualifications
