Job Summary
Work collaboratively with campus and district staff to provide physical education consultation, support and evaluation services to eligible special education students in a classroom setting. Provide direct instructional, consulting, and monitoring services to students in the least restrictive environment ranging from segregated, one-on-one and small group to inclusion. Prepare lessons and plans to help students develop intellectual, physical, social, and emotional growth, and align with district curriculum and policy. Lead involvement in Special Olympics coaching responsibilities, travel to events, and ensure safety and compliance with CPI and related guidelines. Develop and monitor IEPs, coordinate with General Education staff to modify curricula for special education needs, employ technology in instruction, manage student behavior, and participate in staff development and ARD processes. Responsibilities also include extracurricular activities supervision, collaboration with families and staff, and maintaining confidentiality. Special Olympics duties include recruiting athletes, designing individualized training programs, adhering to official rules, coordinating travel, ensuring proper supervision ratios, and maintaining accurate records. Positive role modeling and commitment to district mission and student achievement are emphasized.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university
- Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements for subject/level assigned
- PE Certification (preferred)
- Sped Certification (preferred)
- Special Education teaching experience or internship preferred
