Job Summary
Secondary Social Studies Special Education Teacher position at The Bayard School within Christina School District. Responsibilities include teaching assigned classes per Board of Education guidelines, utilizing state and district curriculum, planning and delivering instruction to meet diverse student needs, interpreting data to improve instruction, using varied instructional methods, identifying students with learning problems and implementing appropriate actions, fostering independent study, communicating student progress, promoting student self-worth, safeguarding property and equipment, monitoring health and safety in the classroom, encouraging compliant student behavior, maintaining accurate records, engaging with families, collaborating with school personnel, fulfilling contractual and legal responsibilities, pursuing professional growth, and performing other duties as assigned. Employment contingent upon acceptable background check and child abuse registry clearances. Salary follows the district salary schedule based on experience and degree.
Required Qualifications
- Must hold or be eligible for State of Delaware Teacher Certification in Special Education and Secondary Social Studies
- Must be able to stand and work continuously for a minimum of 4 hours per workday
- Minimum lifting requirements- 50 pounds (with assistance)
- Must be able to use arms and hands without restrictions to accommodate the physical, mobility, and ambulatory needs of students
