Job Summary

Develop and implement rigorous lesson plans aligned with Maryland Next Generation Science Standards, utilizing research-based strategies and the Dimensions of Learning framework. Diagnose student needs regularly to prescribe appropriate interventions while incorporating technology for instruction, data collection, and assessment. Establish clear classroom rules, maintain laboratory safety, and modify materials to support diverse learners including those with IEPs, 504 plans, and English Language Learners. Collaborate with faculty for vertical alignment, communicate student progress to parents and leadership, and maintain confidential records per state policy. Participate in professional development and school improvement committees. This role supports intellectual and social development within a close-knit district community.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Secondary Education, Science (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Earth Science), or a related field from an accredited college or university
  • Holds or is eligible for a Maryland Professional Educator Certificate in the appropriate Science subject area and grade level
  • Deep understanding of the Maryland Science Standards (NGSS) and the teaching/learning process
  • Proven ability to integrate technology into the curriculum to enhance student engagement
  • Strong competency in providing instruction that reflects multiple perspectives and multicultural education
  • Exceptional communication and human relations skills to work effectively with administrators, colleagues, students, and the Somerset County community
