Job Summary
Remote Certified Primary Care Nurse works both independently and as a member of the multidisciplinary health care team, providing direct patient care and participating in health promotion activities for groups and individuals throughout the remote community. The approach to care must encompass community and cultural values that are client focused, aiming to maintain or achieve maximum health. This requires a broad focus of health care activities which incorporates disease prevention, chronic disease management and acute care across the lifespan. It includes, but is not limited to, emergency assessment; treatment and palliation of illness and injury; assessment of health status; planning, implementation and evaluation of interventions and coordination of health services. Travel may be a requirement of this position. Transportation arrangements must meet the operational requirements of Island Health in accordance with the service assignment and may require the use of a personal vehicle.
Required Qualifications
- Remote nursing certification or eligible for Remote Nursing Certification to be obtained within one (1) year of hire.
- Registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing RN(C) registrant.
- Three (3) years' recent related experience; knowledge of available programs and services, their interrelationships, and their function in delivering care in the community; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Basic Life Support, Level 'C' certification, Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Trauma nursing core course or equivalent.
- Completion of STI certification preferred.
- Valid Driver's license
