Job Summary
Provide nursing care to patients with chronic and acute renal failure undergoing hemodialysis, working both independently and with the multidisciplinary team. Establish therapeutic relationships with patients and families, assess bio-psycho-social and learning needs, support informed choice and self-care, and apply decision-making and analytical skills to plan and evaluate care in hemodialysis settings.
Required Qualifications
- Registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing RN registrant
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification
- Recent hemodialysis experience or completion of recognized program in Nephrology Nursing or equivalent
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
- Ability to work as a member of an interdisciplinary team and to deal effectively with others
- Ability to organize and prioritize workload
- Ability to teach patients/families
- Ability to apply decision-making and analytical skills
- Ability to operate related equipment
- Ability to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for acute and chronic renal failure patients undergoing hemodialysis
- Physical ability to perform the duties of the position
