Job Summary
Manage student behavior and classroom climate to support focus on learning while providing developmentally appropriate individualized, small-group, and whole-class instruction. Teach District-approved curriculum through direct instruction and inquiry-based methods, assessing student learning via discussion, projects, performance assessments, and tests to inform future teaching. Articulate learning objectives, provide timely feedback, and engage students in self-assessment. Communicate frequently with parents, peers, and administrators to define clear outcomes and collaborate on instructional programs. Represent Morenci Area Schools positively in the community and participate in continual professional growth opportunities. Full-time position with MEA salary schedule.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited educational institution
- Valid and current teaching certificate for the State of Michigan
- State teaching certification with endorsement secondary 6-12 Mathematics
- Strong knowledge of subject concepts and ability to teach them effectively
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to create a positive and inclusive classroom environment
- Must have regular, reliable, and punctual attendance
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations
- Ability to write reports or professional correspondence
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from students, staff, administrators, and the general public
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as statistical inference, fractions, percentages, ratios, and practical applications
- Frequently required to stand and talk or hear while sometimes walking and sitting
- The employee may occasionally push or lift up to 40 pounds
- Frequent bending, stooping, or getting up and down from the floor are also required
