Job Summary
Prepare and service food items for à la carte and buffet menus according to hotel recipes, presentation standards, and portion guidelines while assisting with daily mise en place and station preparation. Maintain strong knowledge of menu items, allergens, ingredients, and promotions to support consistent food quality, taste, and presentation standards during all meal periods, ensuring timely execution during high-volume service. Keep workstations clean, organized, and fully stocked throughout each shift, adhering to proper product storage, labeling, dating, and rotation practices to minimize waste. Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently while reporting maintenance concerns, and collaborate with culinary and service teams to ensure smooth operations through daily shift briefings. Follow all food safety, sanitation, and hygiene standards in accordance with Alberta Health Services regulations and hotel policies. This contract position runs from August 31, 2026, to December 31, 2026, at Sheraton Suites Calgary Eau Claire, a Fairmont property nestled between downtown Calgary and the Bow River.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years culinary experience in a hotel, restaurant, or similar fast-paced kitchen environment
- Food Handler certification
- Ability to stand for extended periods throughout food preparation and service
- Frequent lifting, pushing, and pulling up to 50 lbs
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-temperature kitchen environment
- Flexibility to work mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and split shifts as required
- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada
Desired Qualifications
- Working towards Journeyperson/Red Seal certification or international equivalent
- Culinary diploma or certification
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining quality and consistency
