Job Summary
Seasonal Utility Maintenance Worker with City of Olathe performs routine and semi-skilled maintenance and repair of the water distribution and wastewater systems, including preventive and breakdown maintenance on pumps, valves, meters, and related devices. Responsibilities include hand excavation, heavy lifting, operating tools and equipment, directing traffic to ensure safety, and responding to emergencies with on-call rotations. The role requires reading/writing at a basic level, outdoor work in all weather, and compliance with safety regulations; CDL training is available through the city.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED
- Must have a current valid driver’s license and favorable driving record
- Seasonal Utility Maintenance Workers will have the opportunity to participate in CDL Training program
- Must be able to work outside in all weather conditions, with the physical ability for prolonged lifting, walking, bending, stooping, and kneeling
- Must successfully pass pre-employment screenings which include: Criminal Background Check Review of Driving Record Physical Drug Screen Agility Screening
- A class A commercial driver's license with air brake and tanker endorsement is required within six months of employment
