Job Summary
Toll Collector responsible for safely and efficiently processing vehicles through the Skyway toll plaza by collecting tolls, handling cash and change, and assisting customers. Tasks include proper vehicle classification, opening/closing lanes, monitoring safety, reconciling cash drawers, depositing cash, and completing daily reports. Requires cash-handling proficiency, familiarity with electronic toll systems (I-Pass), strong communication, ability to stay calm under pressure during high traffic, and the ability to stand for extended periods in an outdoor toll-booth environment. Reports to Tolling Shift Supervisor and performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience
- 1–2 years of customer service experience
- Cash-handling experience
- Familiarity with electronic toll systems (e.g., I-Pass)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to remain calm under pressure
- Ability to make quick, sound decisions in emergencies
- Knowledge of local roads and directions
- Strong attention to detail in completing reports and forms
- Strong teamwork and problem-solving skills
