Job Summary
Overnight Male Counselor at King’s Lake Camp (Summer 2026) provides leadership and care for 6-10 campers, ensuring safety, health, program involvement, and positive camping experiences. Responsibilities include guiding campers through all program components, supervising meals and cabin clean-up, leading daily group devotions, accompanying groups to activities, completing health/program forms, assisting with camp activities, participating in camp programs, supporting spiritual formation, maintaining property integrity, building positive staff-camper relationships, and upholding camp policies. The role requires staying at the camp site for the season, passing required background checks, and working in varied outdoor/indoor conditions with occasional travel between activities. Physical duties include lifting up to 40 lbs and rigorous daily routines; room and board are provided. Expected qualities include leadership, good judgment, ability to work with diverse individuals, and commitment to the Salvation Army’s mission.
Required Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must pass all background checks required by The Salvation Army
- Prior work experience in a camp setting preferred
- Demonstrated ability to work with young people ages 7 years old and older
- Must perform duties efficiently and demonstrate good judgment
- Room and Board is provided as Camp Counselor must be able to stay at camp while camp is in session
