Job Summary
Seasonal Shelter Assistant on the Veterinary Services team provides medical and humane care to sheltered animals, assists veterinarians with examinations, administers daily medical treatments, conducts health checks prior to adoption (microchip scanning, ID banding, vaccination, deworming, and photographing), supports shelter operations, may supervise volunteers, and performs general office duties.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED; or six months to one year of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Must possess a valid California Driver's License with a clean driving record
- Must be available to work weekends and holidays as needed
- Must pass a background check upon hire
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office and data entry; willingness to learn Chameleon database software
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 50–75 pounds
