Job Summary
Conduct morning and evening rounds to ensure the well-being of all sheltered animals, preparing daily lists for veterinary exams and administering prescribed medical treatments. Assist veterinarians with examinations, perform pre-adoption health checks including microchip scanning and vaccination, and support the Spay & Neuter Clinic by cleaning instruments and returning post-surgery animals to kennels. Provide client walkthroughs for Lost and Found cases, check phone messages, and maintain clean, sanitary work areas while sorting donated items. This seasonal position involves routine exposure to animals, cleaning chemicals, and outdoor weather conditions, with a requirement to work weekends and holidays.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- six months to one year of related experience and/or training
- equivalent combination of education and experience
- valid California Driver's License
- clean driving record
- availability to work weekends and holidays as needed
- ability to pass a background check upon hire
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office and data entry
- willingness to learn Chameleon database software
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 50–75 pounds
