Job Summary
Lead development and distribution of research to the NFL Media Group, ensuring editorial consistency and factual accuracy for live studio shows. Create original storylines, notes, and statistical context around events and news while contributing to the daily content distribution plan. Collaborate with producers, editors, and writers to support weekly research notes and breaking news projects, assisting in training new seasonal staff. Anticipate league trends and recommend enhancements to research methods while adhering to strict deadlines. Requires strong writing skills, attention to detail, and familiarity with football statistics and digital platforms.
Required Qualifications
- 3-5 years professional experience working with statistics or covering or analyzing sports events and news
- Undergraduate degree
- Must have strong foundation of knowledge about current and historical football statistics, news, events and milestones
- Must be technologically savvy, with strong command of Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel
- Must have strong familiarity with digital and social platforms
- Must be able to adhere to strict deadlines and react to breaking news
- Strong writing and editing skills
- Strong attention to detail skills
- Must be able to communicate information accurately
- Experience in sports media
- Previous work experience working for or covering the NFL
- Proven track record of success working with high profile broadcasters
- Proven ability to work collaboratively and on deadline
- Thorough knowledge of football media landscape, including emerging platforms and competing properties
- Detailed knowledge of television production processes, including awareness of key editorial roles
- NFL employees are required to work 40 hours per week
- Seasonal employment up to 7 months
Desired Qualifications
- Knowledge of football research databases/resources a plus (i.e. Pro Football Reference, Pro Football Focus, Next Gen Stats, etc.)
