Job Summary
Seasonal Seed Handler-Plug Testing position in the plug testing department. Responsibilities include preparing soil flats and sowing seed for germination testing (by hand or with machinery), maintaining growth and mist chambers, performing germination analysis with hand-counts and technology systems, and adhering to quality-control measures. Tasks also cover cleaning and sanitizing flats, participating in continuous improvement, and delivering best-in-class service within a seed-production environment. Requires attention to detail, teamwork, problem solving, and the ability to operate or adapt to multiple tasks; physical ability to lift up to 40 lbs and handle variable seasonal hours. Location: West Chicago, IL.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma/GED
- 1 or more years of experience working with seed or in a greenhouse preferred, but not required
- Basic math and computer skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; bilingual capabilities a plus
- MS Office experience preferred
- Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs; push/pull up to 50 lbs; varied daily physical demands
