Job Summary
Mow park properties with push or riding mowers, trim with power weed trimmers or manually, and empty garbage barrels while picking up litter. Clean and maintain public restrooms, manage flower beds through planting, weeding, and watering, and prepare athletic fields for games. Set up and take down picnic shelters and special events, then clean up afterward. Maintain all equipment and report vandalism, unusual conditions, or emergencies to the Park Manager immediately. Follow safety procedures and support the Park District's safety program. Requires a valid Illinois State Driver's License, ability to lift 50 pounds, and flexibility for weekends, evenings, and special events. Part-time staff enjoy discounted recreation classes and free admission to select Park District facilities.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Valid Illinois State Driver's License
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends, evenings, and special events
- Ability to deal effectively and courteously with the public
- Work record that shows reliability, integrity, initiative, and resourcefulness
