Job Summary
Obtain insurance verification, complete authorizations, and schedule patient appointments for geriatric, adult, pediatric, and newborn populations. Answer phones, greet customers, route calls, and collect co-pay payments while ensuring timely registration. Prepare and file patient charts, enter charges into electronic systems, and manage office supplies and equipment. Assist in new employee training, maintain the waiting room presentation, and submit medical records offsite. Work 40 hours weekly for 13 weeks during seasonal shifts from 8:00am to 4:30pm, including holidays, weekends, and on-call rotations.
Required Qualifications
- 1+ years of experience as a Scheduler/Coordinator in Healthcare setting/Clinic
- High school graduate
- Medical Assistant certification
- Medical Assistant experience
- Knowledge of medical practices and procedures
- Knowledge of laws, regulations, and guidelines that pertain to Clinics
- Leadership and supervisory ability
- Ability to deal tactfully with personnel, patients, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general public
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language
- Ability to use Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
- Ability to use web-based database programs and the Internet
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages
- Common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
- Basic computer skills
- Ability to work normal/scheduled working hours to include Holidays, call-backs, weeknights, weekends, and on-call
- Agreement to participate, as directed, in emergencies and community disasters during scheduled and unscheduled hours
