Seasonal Mosquito Technician

Job Summary
Conduct routine inspections of control zones to identify mosquito breeding habitats and larvae through visual checks and dipping. Apply appropriate control techniques including source reduction, biological control, and chemical applications of larvicides and adulticides at labeled rates. Monitor and retrieve devices to assess mosquito populations while accurately logging findings on GPS units and entering data into the VDCI database. Operate equipment safely, mix pesticides, and adhere to all safety protocols and PPE requirements during outdoor service. Communicate respectfully with residents during inspections and public relations activities. This seasonal role requires a valid driver's license, comfort with outdoor conditions, and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid driver's license from state of residence
- Basic math skills — add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
- Solid reading, writing, and verbal communication skills
- Ability to present information in both internal and external settings
- Must be capable of lifting and using items such as chemical containers and application equipment weighing up to 50 pounds
- Ability to safely operate a motor vehicle
- Ability to follow instructions for mixing on product labels
- Possess a valid driver's license from state of residence
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds
