Job Summary
Seasonal Marine Field Technician operates, maintains, and troubleshoots Shinkei's robotic fish processing systems deployed at sea; diagnoses mechanical, electrical, and operational issues with limited support; works directly with electro-mechanical assemblies to ensure system reliability; builds, repairs, and maintains electrical harnessing and related components; safely uses hand tools, power tools, and standard industrial equipment; collaborates with engineering teams to identify and mitigate field issues; works alongside commercial fishermen and vessel crews and communicates insights back to engineering; undergoes hands-on training at Shinkei HQ in El Segundo, CA prior to deployment; serves as the primary technical operator aboard a commercial fishing vessel and represents Shinkei professionally.
Required Qualifications
- At least 2 years of experience working with electro-mechanical systems or assemblies
- Strong enthusiasm for hands-on technical work in marine environments
- Demonstrated experience working aboard vessels or in maritime operations
- Ability to remain drug- and alcohol-free for the duration of vessel deployment
- High proficiency with hand tools and strong mechanical aptitude
- Ability to independently troubleshoot and solve problems in remote field environments
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with remote cross-functional teams
- Flexibility and willingness to live and work aboard a commercial fishing vessel for an extended period
- Ability to work long hours in physically demanding and changing environmental conditions
