Job Summary
Perform general landscaping, grounds keeping, and beach maintenance under a Maintenance Supervisor. Execute tasks including grass mowing, weeding, trash removal, litter pickup, restroom upkeep, and sweeping sidewalks and pavilions. Operate a John Deer tractor to rake the beach and load/unload materials from trucks. Make simple repairs to boardwalk railings and equipment while applying herbicide/pesticide control. Adhere to the Cameron County Park System Hurricane Plan by storing trash barrels and reporting for duty after storms. Work outdoors in an outdoor setting, lifting up to 50 lbs, with weekend, holiday, and evening shifts required. Must hold a valid Texas driver's license and communicate in English and Spanish.
Required Qualifications
- Must have experience in custodianship
- Must enjoy working with the public
- Valid State of Texas Driver's License
- Must be able to follow oral instructions
- Must be able to use power and hand tools
- Must be able to perform strenuous work in an outdoor setting
- Ability to communicate effectively in both English and Spanish
- Must be able to establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships with other employees
- Must be able to lift /carry up to 50 lbs
- Weekend, Holiday, and evening work required
Desired Qualifications
- A high school diploma or G.E.D. certificate
