Job Summary
Conduct non-routine and routine chemical and physical analysis for quality control, research, and development during the "Crush" season. Perform grape maturity, juice, fermentation, and barrel monitoring tests using distillation, titrimetric, and instrumental methods. Operate and maintain laboratory equipment including refractometers and turbidity meters while collecting samples from tanks and barrels. Compile, analyze, and report monthly analysis on cellar inventory, flagging issues as needed. Participate in lab housekeeping and adhere to safety regulations. This seasonal role supports TWG's global wine production across California, New York, and Australia, focusing on sustainable practices for brands like Meiomi and Franzia.
Required Qualifications
- Must be 18 or older at the time of hire
- Must be able to frequently lift and carry weights of up to 50 pounds
- Ability to perform tasks requiring bending, stooping, standing, and twisting
- Occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
- Must be able to effectively lead and coach others
- Must be able to effectively lead and coach others
Desired Qualifications
- A.S. or B.S. in Enology, Chemistry, Food Science, or related field preferred but not required
- Previous winery experience desired but we will consider training the right person
- Good working and theoretical knowledge of analytical instrumentation
- Ability to work in an environment that has changing priorities and multiple projects
- Proficient in the following computer applications: Microsoft Word, Excel, JDE and ability to learn new programs
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills with attention to detail
- Ability to set priorities and work independently within set guidelines
- Strong knowledge of production / manufacturing operations
- Provide good verbal and written communications to all levels of management, both internally and externally
- Prioritize tasks while being able to adapt to changing priorities
- Demonstrated reliability and punctuality, work effectively in team / crew environment, adherence to all safety regulations and operating procedures
