Job Summary
Operate semi-tractor trailers on local routes within 25–50 miles of Gladstone, transporting goods to designated locations while maintaining logs for working hours. Perform daily pre-shift meetings, pre and post vehicle inspections, and complete all required documentation. Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions, verify delivery instructions, and inspect and clean trailers prior to loading. Secure cargo to customer weight specifications and report any vehicle defects or accidents per facility policy. Fully participate in the company Safety Program and adhere to OSHA, environmental, and federal regulations. Work steady hours with overtime opportunities, including weekends and holidays as needed.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- CDL Class A license
- Current and valid DOT medical card
- Must meet company Commercial Driver's insurance requirements
- Basic mathematical skills (add, subtract, multiply, divide)
- Ability to safely operate tractor/trailer in extreme weather conditions
- Ability to follow directions and use logical through process to interpret oral and written instructions, and troubleshoot problems
- Ability to use tools appropriate for assigned task
- Ability to remain focused on exceptional customer service, both internally and externally
- Ability to balance constantly/continuously
- Ability to climb, bend and twist occasionally
- Ability to concentrate on task without becoming distracted, constantly/continuously
- Ability to lift/push/pull 50 lbs. occasionally to continuously depending on daily needs of location
- Ability to meet requirement of and utilize all applicable PPE, when applicable
- Ability to open truck hoppers, where applicable
- Ability to pass all required testing under FRA and DOT for this position (where applicable)
- Ability to sit constantly/continuously
- Ability to understand and communicate verbally, in person and over two-way radio (and recognize emergency alarms)
- Ability to understand and communicate written instructions
- Ability to use PPE
- Ability to work extended hours, weekend, holidays and/or alternate shifts as needed
- Ability to work in an environment with high dust levels around grain and other bulk products (where applicable)
- Ability to work outside in extreme weather conditions
- Acutely aware of surroundings with ability to quickly adjust to a signal or change in environment
- Arm/hand steadiness and multi-limb coordination
- Reaches forward constantly/continuously
- Uses near, far and peripheral vision and depth perception for task(s) being performed
- Uses peripheral vision and depth perception for tasks being performed
- 100% travel, daily
