Job Summary
Operate gasoline or diesel-powered rollers and automatic paving machines to lay sheet asphalt, macadam walks, and roads. Perform related work including milling old asphalt layers for repaving, securing equipment for night layovers, and conducting emergency repairs. Maintain, inspect, and make minor repairs to heavy equipment while keeping records and reports on equipment and production. Also operate other heavy machinery for snow removal or other immediate emergency purposes. This nine-month seasonal position runs from March through December. Applicants must possess a Class B Commercial Driver License valid in New York. Work location covers all NYC boroughs.
Required Qualifications
- Three years of full-time satisfactory experience operating a diesel powered roller and/or an automatic asphalt paving machine and/or an asphalt milling machine and/or an asphalt recycling plant
- At least two years of full-time satisfactory experience as described in 1 above plus sufficient relevant education or training acquired in an approved trade school to make up the equivalent of three years of acceptable experience
- Six months of acceptable experience will be credited for each year of relevant education
- Possession of a Class B Commercial Driver License, without restrictions, valid in the State of New York
- Employees must maintain the Class B Commercial Driver License during their employment
