Job Summary
Direct and control vehicular and pedestrian traffic in a safe, efficient manner while monitoring surroundings for hazards. Coordinate traffic movement with your team using hand signals, radios, and traffic control tools. Provide clear directions and courteous assistance to motorists, guests, and supervisors, maintaining a professional demeanor even with agitated drivers. Follow established safety practices and accident-prevention protocols to make sound decisions within limited supervision. Work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold, performing physical activities such as lifting equipment.
Required Qualifications
- Experience with traffic control procedures
- Working knowledge of general traffic control procedures and safety practices
- Knowledge of local roads, traffic patterns, and surrounding areas
- Ability to communicate effectively with employees, supervisors, customers, motorists, and others in person and through mobile radios or telephones
- Ability to observe and assess job conditions, including in limited-light environments
- Ability to differentiate colors as required for traffic control and safety
- Ability to safely lift and carry equipment and materials as needed
- Ability to remain alert and move quickly to avoid potential hazards
- Basic math, reading, and writing skills necessary to perform job duties
- Ability to learn and apply safe work practices, accident-prevention procedures, and proper use of tools and equipment
