Seasonal Conservation Assistant

Job Summary
Conduct field data collection for aquatic fauna, amphibians, reptiles, and wading birds using UAVs and manned aircraft, while maintaining camera traps and processing images. Manage laboratory samples, enter data, and catalogue specimens with precise adherence to protocols. Assist with prescribed fire operations under supervision and perform preventative maintenance on off-road vehicles. Foster team safety and communicate conservation science to diverse audiences through presentations and social media. Work full-time, 40 hours per week, in seasonal 26-week rotations starting September 2026 at Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary in Naples, FL.
Required Qualifications
- Pursuing or have recently completed a degree in biology or a related field
- Meticulous attention to detail with a high level of accuracy
- Ability to learn species-level identification of plants and animals
- Knowledge of South Florida ecosystems
- Ability to pivot and adapt to changing circumstances and work conditions
- Ability to improvise and problem-solve in the field
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Can-do attitude
- Solid judgement and the ability to identify and act quickly in emergencies
- Demonstrated commitment to safety through strict adherence to health and safety requirements
- Flexibility and ability to work non-traditional hours when needed (early mornings, evenings), including long hours outdoors in remote sub-tropical South Florida wetland environments
- Ability to transport field gear (up to 40 lbs.) for extended periods, with or without accommodation
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent navigational and geolocation skills
- Experience with Microsoft Office
- Experience with ArcGIS
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
