Seasonal Christmas Assistant

Job Summary

Conduct Christmas assistance programs, manage sign-ups and distribution for coats, toys, and food pantries, and support event logistics. Interview clients to assess needs, develop service plans, and refer them to community resources for job placement, debt counseling, and housing. Maintain case histories, prepare reports, and coordinate with volunteers and the Pathway Of Hope Coordinator. Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of seasonal assistance.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Services Field
  • Past employment with social services or human services
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Knowledge of cultural flexibility, competency in working with multi-cultural participants and experience working with inner-city populations
  • Detail oriented, flexible, and able to work under pressure with minimal supervision
  • Must be willing to serve on boards, committees and panels
  • Valid Driver's License and able to obtain insurance clearances as determined by The Salvation Army's insurance company
  • PA Child Abuse History Clearance
  • PA State Police Criminal Record Check
  • PA DHS Criminal Record/Fingerprint Check
  • Pennsylvania approved Child Abuse Recognition and Reporting Training
  • Must understand and support for the Mission of The Salvation Army

Desired Qualifications

  • Masters degree preferred
  • Bilingual ability (English and Spanish) preferred
