Job Summary
Facilitate safe, engaging, hands-on activities with farm animals and gardens, including spinning wool, hand milking, and cheddar-making demonstrations. Welcome diverse audiences and answer questions about agriculture, campus history, and food systems while orienting visitors to Shelburne Farms' mission. Perform daily animal chores, clean barns and pens, and maintain fences and grounds. Mentor youth educators and foster an inclusive environment for guests and staff. Work variable shifts of 3–5 days including weekends and holidays from 8:30am to 5:00pm. Background check required due to minor contact.
Required Qualifications
- Able to work weekends and holidays
- Experience in education or public interpretation
- Basic knowledge/understanding of food, fiber and farm systems
- A completed background check
- Able to lift and move items weighing up to 50 lbs periodically
