Job Summary
Perform quality alterations on merchandise by following ticket instructions, measuring and marking lines, and using the provided sewing machine to hem jeans and pants. Pin folds, remove stitches with a ripper or razor blade, resew garments, press with a hand iron or steamer, and repair defective items or remove stains. Record all work in the alteration log, maintain a clean and stocked work area, and uphold productivity guidelines of four jean alterations per hour. Accommodate guests with on-the-spot alterations while meeting deadlines and expectations. Work a flexible schedule including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays based on store needs.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- one to three months related sewing, fitting, and alteration experience
- training
- equivalent combination of education and experience
- 18 years of age or older
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, which may include mornings, evenings, and weekends, and the day of/day after Thanksgiving and Christmas, based upon store and business needs
- Physical ability to lift and maneuver 25lbs throughout the store and backroom
