Job Summary
Hem jeans and pants, follow ticket instructions and markings, and accommodate on-the-spot alterations when requested. Measure and mark alteration lines, pin folds, remove stitches with a ripper or razor blade, and resew using needle and thread or the provided sewing machine. Press merchandise with a hand iron or steamer, repair defective items, and remove spots or stains. Record all work in the alteration log, maintain a clean and stocked work area, and uphold productivity guidelines of four jean alterations per hour. Work a flexible schedule including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays based on store needs.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- one to three months related sewing, fitting, and alteration experience
- training
- equivalent combination of education and experience
- 18 years of age or older
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, which may include mornings, evenings, and weekends, and the day of/day after Thanksgiving and Christmas, based upon store and business needs
- Physical ability to lift and maneuver 25lbs throughout the store and backroom
