Job Summary
Rebuild vacuum syrupiers and seamers, adjusting lower turret bearings, seaming head sleeves, and flanges while replacing valve and piston rollers. Install pistons, replace worn guide blocks, repair air cylinder hinge pins, and re-drill cylinder brackets as needed. Maintain an orderly work area and assist inventory control at the San Benito Foods plant in Hollister, CA. Requires a four-year mechanical apprenticeship or five years of industrial mechanic experience, fluency in English and Spanish, and ability to read diagrams and schematics. Work extended schedules, weekends, and shifts during fresh pack season from July to early October.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or General Education Diploma GED
- Demonstrable competences with diagnostics, maintenance and troubleshooting
- Algebra
- Geometry
- Reading of diagrams and schematics
- Completion of a four-year mechanical apprenticeship program or 5 years of industrial mechanic – seamer experience
- Ability to read, write and comprehend English fluently
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen
- Ability to work extended schedule, weekends, and any assigned shift during the fresh pack season, typically July to early October
